Passage by Munetris

See a business process as a flow, and catch its mistakes

Paste the BPML of a Sterling business process. Passage draws its sequences, choices, loops and fault handlers, and checks the things the editor lets through: rules that don't exist, branches that never run, repeats that can't loop, and services with no fault handling.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste is uploaded or stored, and the page's security policy blocks every network request.

    Questions

    What does Passage check?

The structure rules of Sterling's BPML. A process holds rules and then exactly one activity. A case must name a defined rule and one of its own choice's activities. A repeat can only go back to an activity that encloses it. Each onFault code may appear once per activity, and only one handler may have no code. An operation needs a participant, and lists participant, output and input in that order. It also flags choice branches no case selects, unused rules, conditions that are not valid XPath, and processes with no fault handling at all.

Does it know which services exist on my system?

No. Passage only sees the BPML, so it lists the services each operation calls but cannot tell whether that service or configuration is installed. Sterling's extension functions in conditions and assigns, such as DocToDOM(), are recognised and not judged.

Where do I get the BPML?

In the dashboard, open the business process definition and view or export the BPML of the version you want. A Graphical Process Modeler export or a file from your source control works just as well.

    Who makes this?

Passage is built by Myggiz Software B.V. in the Netherlands, by an integration consultant with 30 years of B2B integration work, Sterling B2B Integrator included. It is one of the free Munetris tools for teams running B2B gateways, along with the certificate checker, the XPath tester and the pattern tester.
